Competition PT

PT is an acronym for Physical Training. It is used by almost all branches in the military and is most commonly used by the army. I am currently doing ROTC at Georgia Southern University and we must go to PT every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:30 am. This morning we did things a little bit differently. Usually we divide into groups based on run times and go for long runs around the campus doing a few Ab and chest workouts along the way. Today we divided into 2 squads from each company and had a little competition. There were 5 events in this competition and each one tested your physical abilities. The first was a 1/3 mile sprint around the track. We had to run one giant lap around the RAC fields and our time would be when the last person crossed the finish. The second event was a 300 meter sprint relay. Half of you team would stand at one end of the 300 meters and you would run to the other side signaling the next person to go. The third event was a push up contest. Between all of the people in the group you would have to get a total of 700 push ups. Only one person could do push ups at a time. The fourth event was a buddy carry event. This one was simple. All you had to do was carry a buddy across the field on your back and the person you carried would carry you back. The final event was the same as the push up contest except instead of push ups it was with sit ups. We never got to do the sit up one, but all of the others challenged my physical ability and gave me a great workout.

Facebook is one of the hardest things to talk about. I believe it is a very controversial website that can do more harm than good. First the good things about facebook. Facebook can be used to communicate with friends and family. It is a social website designed to bring people together and share information about each others lives. People who live far away from home can use it to talk to their family and share pictures of events they might have missed. It can be a wonderful tool and that is the reason why so many people use it. I believe that facebook has one flaw. This flaw is basically the same flaw we have with mankind. People just don’t always get along with other people. Facebook can be used as a way to divide people into groups. If someone doesn’t like you they can post what ever they feel on you wall. This leads to verbal battles over the internet that can actually end friendships. I have seen it happen first hand. One day someone can be your friend on facebook and the next day they can remove you and block you from ever seeing them again. Another problem with facebook is that people treat it like real life, but it isn’t. Facebook is the farthest thing from reality. You can make a fake page with anything you want on it add some friends and pose as someone else if you want to. This is a dangerous feature because it leads to pedophiles and stalkers using this program to attract little boys and girls. Sometimes I wish facebook didn’t exist because it can annoy me so much. I guess it’s just how you feel about the subject.

I just got my new ViewSonic 24″ VT2430 HDTV. I am using it as my computer monitor right now and it is working fantastically. This blog is being written in 1920 by 1080 pixels and it looks amazing. The main reason I wanted a TV as a monitor was to be able to use my computer and watch TV when ever I wanted. All I have to do is pick up the remote and change the input to TV Source. I already watched some movies on it and the quality is great. I was watching some of the original Star Wars movies and Darth Vader looked awesome. The only bad thing I can say about this Tv is that I had to buy an extra cable to get it to work with my desktop computer. I have a DVI output in my computer and there is no DVI input for the TV. They do however make a DVI to HDMI converter cable that works perfectly with the TV. Playing video games on this screen is fun and addicting. The resolution looks great with the games and gives it that high-definition look. It is after all a HDTV or High Definition Television. If i had to rate this product I would give it a 4 out of 5 for its easy use, amazing visuals and use as a computer monitor.

Discovery

In a blue planet far away, a rock band began to play. This band played rocking beats for all to hear. The people of this planet watched and cheered. Then came a day of dark and gloomy times. A squad of aliens came to the blue planet and captured the band. They made the members into rock playing slaves on another planet called Earth. On this planet the people had oddly colored skin. Peach and tan or even black skin which was nothing close to the blue skin of the band members. Now slaves, the members of the band were changed by machines. The machines changed their hair, eyes, and skin. It was a total transformation of the body so they would fit in with the other inhabitants of earth. They were forced to play and their music was great, but they were still slaves far away from home. It wasn’t long before one of the blue people found out about this mess. He loved the band members and knew he must save them. Traveling through time and space he arrived at Earth and flew down into one of their concerts to rescue them. He came face to face with countless thugs shooting lasers at him trying to take him out. They got away but not with everything they had hoped. The blue man who had come to save them was wounded and bleeding badly. The members said their goodbyes and comforted him as he passed away. They raced toward his ship and jumped in as fast as they could. As they flew toward home, they thought about how long it had been. It had been too long.

What Goes Around Comes Around

The saying, “what goes around comes around” means exactly what it sounds like. If you do something bad you better expect something bad to happen to you back. In my experiences this saying seems to be true. What goes around does come around. If you act like a self-centered fool then you will experience everything but happiness. I have some friends that not to long ago used to be very close to me. It was just yesterday that I found out a terrible truth. They had done me wrong in the past. To some people it may not seem like a big deal, but it felt like my own father punching me in the face. For some reason the people who are closest to you are the ones who can hurt you the most with little effort. Last summer was the scene of the prank these people I called friends decided to pull on me. We were on a cruise. The Carnival Glory to be exact and it was our high school graduation trip. One of my so-called friends decided to spike my drink with some ex-lax or at least some product that has the same effect. Now in most cases this would be funny as hell, but in my case it was horrible. It ruined my whole trip which I payed a lot of money to go on. I was so angry when I found out that I almost lost it. I’m not sure if I can forgive these people and first things first I need an apology from each of them. The one thing I do know is that from now on they will begin to experience unhappiness in their lives and if they want it to end I am here waiting.

FTX

This past weekend I went on a military trip planned by Georgia Southern ROTC. It was called the FTX. It consisted of four parts. The first part was getting to Fort Gordan. We rode coach buses for 2 hours with all of our gear on and ready to go. The next part was a full day of land navigation. This was the most boring part for me because I hate land navigation. All you do is plot points on a map and walk miles to find those points. If you get lost you can end up stuck in the middle of the woods which is a horrible experience. During the day land navigation everything was easy. Our group found 5 out of 5 points and had plenty of time to get back to base. The night, however, was horrible. None of the points were reflective and it was so dark I could only see 4 feet in front of me. This made it very difficult for everyone on the course. The next day we got to do STX lanes. These are situational combat exercises in the woods. I really enjoyed this part because it was interesting and it seemed relevant to the military practices today. They issued us m16′s with blank rounds to use during the lanes. The gun shots could be heard from all direction which made me feel like I was actually in combat. The last days mission was to get cleaned up, eat, and get home. We had to clean our m16′s which took me 2 hours to do. The grease was everywhere in the chamber of the weapon. I must have used 100 or more q-tips to clean the damn thing. Overall, it was a great experience. I learned a lot about leading soldiers in combat situations and what it takes to be a leader. I will most likely spend the next few days resting from all of the hard work I did this weekend.

Halloween

It was a dark and stormy night in Savannah Georgia. The trees shook from the constant blast of wind, leaves flew all around and rain filled the sky. Justin woke up in a daze sitting in a hospital bed with nothing but an apron covering him. The door to his room was barricaded from the outside. He managed to get outside of the room but struggled to walk around. There was no one to be found so he sat down and tried to remember what had happened to him, but all he could recall was the car accident that put him in intensive care. A few hours later, Justin could walk again. He decided to go out into the city and find out what was going on. He stepped outside into the light and took a look around. What he saw was absolutely nothing. Bikes, cars and trash lay everywhere at his feet. There were no humans to be seen. He walked slowly through the streets more confused than he had ever been in his entire life. He was beginning to get hungry and needed some food, so he broke into the first house he could find. Slowly creeping the door open and walking in. As he walked through the dark house he heard a noise like a breath from upstairs. He called out saying, “Who’s there!” , but no one answered. The person walked slowly one foot step at a time. “Stop” shouted Justin, “dont come any closer”. The figure lunged at him with amazing speed and grabbed him with a forceful grip. Blood from the humans mouth trickled down his cheek and onto Justin’s shoes. Justin pushed the human to the ground with all his might and ran a fast as he could. There were 15 of these zombie like humans chasing him down the street. Justin frantically turned the first corner on the street and was immediately pounced by one of these zombies. It ripped at his stomach, pulling his intestines from his body. The other zombies joined in and formed a small horde around his body biting and slashing at his remains. When it was all over Justin had become one of these “zombies”. A mindless flesh hungry human who hunted the last of the survivors.

Review of the ASUS Eee PC 1000HE

Buying the Asus Eee PC 1000HE is one of the greatest investments I have ever made in my life. This mini laptop has a 10 inch screen, fully functioning keyboard, and an amazing battery life of up to 9.5 hours. Most people see these mini laptops and think they are weak. Let me tell you that they are absolutely wrong. The portability of this laptop is amazing. You can practically take it anywhere without any problems. It is the size of a small book so it can fit into to any backpack easily. Before I bought this computer I thought that the keyboard would be to small, but Asus proved me wrong. They made a keyboard that is comfortable to type with and easy to use. In addition to this amazing keyboard it comes with a multi-touch mouse pad. This is a similar feature to the MacBooks that people pay thousands of dollars for. This computer is also one of the best performing minis I have ever seen. It comes with about 170 gigs of hard drive space which is plenty for any normal person. I currently have Windows 7 beta installed on it and it runs perfectly. The high-speed wireless connectivity makes this laptop internet ready everywhere you go. Did I mention that it has a webcam? This computer has it all and for the price there is nothing better. It costs around 330 bucks which means you could buy 3 of these instead of getting one MacBook, saving you 600 dollars. I give the Asus Eee PC 1000HE a 9 out of 10 for great portability, excellent battery life; improved keyboard and its low price.

Sociological Self

In Sociology, the self refers to a person from the perspective of that person. In more simple terms, it is the individual’s conception of himself or herself in society. Many different things can influence a person’s sociological self. People start to develop self at young age’s, which can influence how they act for the rest of their lives. This is a theory coined by a man named Charles Cooley who stands out as a historic contributor in the field of sociology. This theory is called “Looking Glass Self.” It states that even as infants, human beings form their very selves from the reflections and responses gained by their earliest behaviours. Family is one of the factors that contributes to forming a childs sociological self. One example of this is when people have certain beliefs about contreversal topics that are similar to their parents beliefs. The self can become a very dangerous thing in some situations. Childern that are not raised correctly or in issolation can develop a self that contains no self-esteem. They will hide from other people or feel akward in social situations that are normal. Studies have been done to show this very disturbing truth.

Food

Food is the greatest thing ever given to mankind. In fact, I’m eating as I type this entry into my newly created blog. The food I just ate was a chicken biscuit from Chick-Fil-A. It is almost impossible to describe this food and the way that it tastes. I will give it a try for the blogs sake. Eating a chicken biscuit is like getting a taste of heaven. Food is actually essential to succeed in life. It provides energy and without energy you can not perform functions well. One of the best things about food is the vast number of different tastes you can experience when eating food. It can be cooked or bought from the store and you will still experience many different and fascinating tastes. Cooked food can be better in some cases. This is because certain tastes can be created using spices and other things that junk food you buy at the store would not have. Pasta for example can be made in a million different ways. Different sauces can be used, different kinds of pasta and different spices make the possibilities endless. This is what makes food such a great thing. I have always wondered what the world would be like if all food tasted bad no matter how it was made. Would people just all be skinny as hell? Would we eat it anyway? How would things change in the world? Well i believe things would not be any where near the same as they are today. Food needs to be the way it is. Hopefully people will agree that food makes them feel great.
